19th Century French School - The Milkmaid

Descriptio Pastel on paper. Dimensions: 64 × 51 cm. Genre drawing depicting a young milkmaid, a recurring theme in 17th- and 18th-century European painting, linked to scenes of everyday life and often laden with subtle symbolic connotations. The work falls within the Rococo style, with a delicate treatment of the face and special attention to expression and the softness of the modeling. The pronounced neckline introduces a touch of restrained sensuality, characteristic of this type of representation. The composition recalls models popularized by artists such as Jean-Baptiste Greuze, whose iconography greatly influenced this genre. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
