1990 Chateau Lynch Bages - Pauillac 5ème Grand Cru Classé - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

1 bottle – Château Lynch-Bages 1990 – Pauillac, 5th Grand Cru Classé THE ESTATE Château Lynch-Bages, ranked 5th Grand Cru in 1855, sits on the Bages plateau south of Pauillac. Under the direction of Jean-Michel Cazes, the estate established itself in the 1980s as one of the great overperformers of the classification, regularly tasted and rated at the level of the Second Growths. The vineyard is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The house style is instantly recognizable: ripe cassis, cedar, graphite, a dense, generous texture, with a fleshy quality that sets Lynch-Bages apart from the more austere Pauillacs. THE VINTAGE 1990 1990 ranks among the three great Bordeaux vintages of the late 20th century, alongside 1982 and 1989. A hot, dry summer enabled exceptional ripeness in the Cabernet Sauvignon. Lynch-Bages 1990 has been unanimously praised by international critics, with ratings around 95-96/100. Today it is in its peak drinking window and retains aging potential of ten to fifteen years. Appearance: deep garnet with brick-red reflections. Bouquet: a blend of candied cassis, cedar, blond tobacco and graphite notes characteristic of Pauillac. Palate: broad, with melted tannins and great length. Decant one hour before serving, at 17°C. PROVENANCE Bottle purchased directly from the estate and kept since in a private cellar, laid down, at stable temperature and humidity. No breaks in the storage chain. CONDITION Level: neck. Exceptional level for a thirty-six-year-old Bordeaux, indicating a perfectly airtight cork and impeccable storage. Capsule: original capsule in place, intact, with no perforation or seepage marks. Label: in place, legible, with a light age patina and some minor surface marks without severity. Glass: clean, with no chips or cracks. Sold as is. As this is an old wine, no guarantee can be given on the contents. Careful shipment in a specialized honeycomb-style carton with padding and insured shipping included.
