1985 R. Lopez de Heredia, Viña Tondonia - Rioja Reserva - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

• Parker points: 91 points (by Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate for the 1985 vintage). • Fill level: Base Neck. This is an excellent, high fill level for a 1985 vintage, showing great preservation and minimal evaporation. • Label condition: Stained/Scuffed/Written/Torn/Loose label. The front label has minor scuffs and aging but is fully legible. The back guarantee label (Diploma de Garantia) is severely torn and partially missing on the right side. The vintage neck strip also has a slight tear in the middle. • Capsule condition: Corroded/Cut/Cracked Capsule. The top of the foil capsule shows visible wear, chipping, and cracking due to age. However, the cork placement remains stable, being neither depressed nor protruding. • Bottle size: 75 cl (Standard 750ml bottle). • Bottler: Chateau bottled. It was produced, aged, and estate-bottled directly by the winery (Bodegas R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia, S.A. in Haro, Rioja Alta, Spain), as confirmed by the phrase "Embotellado por..." and the official registry number R.E. 333 LO. • History of the wine/winery: Founded in 1877 by Don Rafael López de Heredia in Haro, R. López de Heredia is one of Rioja’s oldest and most legendary family-owned estates. The winery is world-famous for its absolute dedication to traditional methods, using ancient large oak vats for fermentation and crafting their own barrels in an on-site cooperage. Viña Tondonia is their most iconic, historic 100-hectare vineyard situated along the Ebro River. Their Reserva wines are aged for much longer than the legal minimums, resulting in an exceptionally elegant, complex, and legendary style of Rioja. • To drink or to lay up: To drink. This 41-year-old vintage has reached full maturity and is at its peak.
