-New empty album + 128 new stickers to paste! -Thumbtack good -Argentine industry Ayrton Senna da Silva was a Brazilian racing driver. He competed in Formula 1 for the teams Toleman, Lotus, McLaren and Williams, between 1984 and 1994, and he became three-time World Drivers’ Champion in 1988, 1990 and 1991, runner-up in 1989 and 1993, third in 1987, and fourth in 1985, 1986 and 1992, accumulating a total of 41 victories (6 of them at the Monaco Grand Prix, a record for the event), 80 podiums and 65 pole positions in just 162 races, with an effectiveness of more than 40%. He ranks among the most successful and dominant drivers of the modern era and, for many experts, is the fastest in history. Ayrton was acclaimed for his extraordinary performances on wet tracks, such as the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, the 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix, and the 1993 European Grand Prix, when other drivers had superior cars. He was mainly known for his speed-driven, technically superb and sometimes aggressive driving in races. He maintained a fierce rivalry with French driver Alain Prost for most of his career, including two years as teammates at McLaren. The rivalry between Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna was arguably the greatest in motor racing history, between two drivers who were far ahead of almost everyone else in their era. So intense was the rivalry that the championship title in 1989 and 1990 was decided by a collision between them. Years after Senna’s death, Prost himself acknowledged that nothing would have been the same without the Brazilian; they fed off each other thanks to their rivalry. The 1980s were possibly Formula One’s golden decade. Ayrton Senna died as a result of a severe crash suffered at Tamburello corner during the race at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. A suspension rod pierced the visor of his helmet, causing a fatal head injury. After his death, the Government of Brazil declared three days of mourning and a state funeral with honors. More than a million people attended his funeral procession. The first corner of the Autodromo José Carlos Pace in his hometown was named the “Senna S” after him, since he proposed the design of that section of the circuit. Owing to his renowned public life, there is a foundation created by his family to remember his legacy, called Senna Brasil, and numerous monuments, fan clubs, memorabilia and paintings around the world. Since the deaths of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger, Formula 1 safety dramatically increased, appointing the experienced on-track doctor Sid Watkins to that role, who attempted to resuscitate the driver on the day of his accident. After Ayrton’s death, more than 20 years passed without tragic accidents in Formula 1, until October 2014 when Jules Bianchi suffered an accident at Suzuka that would cost him his life a few months later.
