‘The most desirable of all Morgans’ Unveiled at the Earl’s Court Motor Show in October 1968, the Morgan Plus 8 was the flagship model of the Malvern-based marque for more than three decades. Designed by slipping the powerful aluminium Rover V8 engine under the bonnet of the traditional roadster, it established itself from the outset as one of the most impressive British cars in terms of acceleration. Retaining its legendary architecture—combining a steel chassis with an ash wood frame—this featherweight model (weighing less than 950 kg) delivers a pure, unfiltered driving experience, becoming an absolute icon of British automotive craftsmanship. The example presented here is a V8 first registered in July 1975 and has approximately 98,000 km on the clock. Its official service history confirms that it has had only two owners since leaving the factory, both based in Germany. The current owner acquired the vehicle in 2013 and has owned it for the past 13 years. The car has a German registration certificate with official ‘Oldtimer’ (classic car) status. This example stands out for being entirely original and unrestored. The bodywork remains in very presentable condition, although the paintwork shows some cracking and minor imperfections due to its age (over 50 years), which have been deliberately retained to preserve its authenticity. In the same vein, the interior retains its original leather seats, which have developed a uniform natural patina. The wooden trim and the steel chassis are in an exceptional state of preservation. In terms of performance, this Morgan is in excellent running order and fully operational, ready for immediate use. Its 3,474 cm³ Rover V8 engine delivers its power smoothly, whilst its handling benefits from the high rigidity of its chassis. The vehicle is sold complete with all its rain protection equipment (soft top and accessories), all of which are in excellent condition.
