Here we offer: 1 bottle 1971 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Gold Capsule Auction Wine - J. J. Prüm 0.35 L Auction wine from the VDP Auction German Spitzen wines 19.11.1981 Rated by several wine critics with 100/100 points, for example 100 points Falstaff in 2014 !!! The 1971 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Gold Capsule by Joh. Jo. Prüm counts among the most legendary and longest-lived German Rieslings of the 20th century. The vintage 1971 is regarded as one of the great vintages of the century on the Mosel and offered optimal conditions for the formation of highly concentrated yet delicate Prädikat wines. This Trockenbeerenauslese embodies the absolute pinnacle of winemaking – raisin-like berries in which noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) has fully withered selected plots of the famous Sonnenuhr vineyard. • Color: a deep, radiant gold that over time has developed amber reflections. It testifies to maturity, yet never dull or tired. • Nose: a complex, multi-layered symphony of ripe tropical fruits (mango, pineapple, dried apricot), candied citrus notes, honey, caramel, dried herbs and a characteristic Mosel mineralità. With a bit of air, notes of tea, spices (ginger, saffron) and a wonderful waxy and petrol note develop, which is desirable in great, old Rieslings. • On the palate: impressively dense and sweet (residual sugar presumably above 200 g/l), but never heavy or chewy. Perfectly balanced by a lively, razor-sharp acidity. The result is a wine of incredible tension, finesse and length. Aromas of concentrated stone and citrus fruits, honey, almonds and an intense minerality lead to a long-lasting finish. A monument of elegance and complexity. Despite its extreme concentration and sweetness, the wine remains feather-light and is permeated by a salty minerality that makes it endlessly drinkable. Aging potential & storage: this wine was made for eternity from the start. After over 50 years it reaches its absolute peak. Primary fruit aromas have developed into a fascinating tertiary spectrum, while the acidity continues to provide structure. With proper storage this wine still has enormous potential for several decades. This wine is a showcase example of the incomparable aging potential of the greatest Rieslings of the Mosel. The 1971 TBA Gold Capsule from J.J. Prüm counts among the most significant wines ever produced in Germany. It perfectly embodies the Mosel Riesling ideal: utmost concentration paired with buoyant lightness. This wine regularly achieves top prices at auctions and is a coveted collector’s item. World-wide critics award it top marks (100 points in retrospective evaluations). The J.J. Prüm 1971 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Gold Capsule is an absolute icon of the wine world. The wine combines the extreme contrasts of lush sweetness and radiant acidity, concentrated fruit and earthy minerality into a perfected, timeless harmony. A wine that not only masterfully documents the greatness of the vintage and the vineyard, but also the incomparable artistry of the winery. An experience that will deeply impress any wine lover. The offered wine may contain sediment and/or natural deposits. Bottler: Weingut Joh. Jos. Aged WINE: General notes on aged wines, old wines and wine rarities: Wine is a natural product that can undergo taste and color changes over decades of storage. Therefore we cannot guarantee the drinkability and flawless taste of old wines. However, we handle the purchase of these wines with great care, ensuring optimal storage conditions, verifying the bottle history when possible, and conducting visual checks of the bottle contents for cloudiness and changes in consistency. As mentioned, older, aged wines often change their original taste and develop a mature character during decades of storage. White wines tend to darken in color (similar to cognac, sherry or amber) and may develop sediment; red wines often form sediment at the bottle bottom. An appearance and taste experience different from young wines is not unusual for aged wines. For wine drinkers who have problems with the sometimes fresh, pronounced acidity of young wines, aged wines can be a true pleasure as the wine acidity loses strength and aggressiveness over the years.
