1965 Mercedez-Benz 230 SL Pagoda Driver-quality classic, delivered new in Germany. Original cabin with the original Becker radio and clock still fitted. Manual gearbox and upgraded engine. With its distinctive design, the Mercedes-Benz SL (W113) was an immediate success when introduced in 1963. The model combined luxury, elegant design and advanced engineering in a convertible developed for both comfortable and fast driving. The W113 thus became an important chapter in the history of the SL and laid the foundation for the generations that followed, right up to the present day. This 230 SL was delivered to a customer in Duisburg on 29 September 1965. Therefore it features what enthusiasts refer to as Euro-Spec, with European-specification headlights and bumpers. The car is finished in silver, complemented by black MB-Tex upholstery in the colour Caviar and a black soft top. The steering wheel and gear knob are also finished in black. The engine has been upgraded to a 2.500 ccm, providing noticeably more torque, which works particularly well with the manual gearbox. This is a well-maintained driver-quality classic, purchased to be driven and still presenting well in its paintwork, chrome and interior. The underside is equally well presented, while the doors close with the solid, precise feel associated with Mercedes-Benz of the period. The distinctive and beautifully finished wood trim has a few minor cosmetic imperfections, as one would expect from a car of this age and history, but nothing that detracts from the overall impression. Inside, the original Becker Mexico radio remains fitted in the dashboard alongside the original clock. The car also retains historically correct black registration plates. The original data card accompanies the car and confirms that it was originally delivered in white. The car passed its inspection in 2024 and is therefore ready to be registered in the buyer’s name, with its next inspection not due until 2032. At the time of the inspection, the odometer showed 66,464 km, and the inspector found no indications of any irregularities with the recorded mileage. We have likewise found no evidence to suggest otherwise. The car has clearly been well cared for. The engine bay is clean and well maintained, and the car drives as it should. For those seeking a well-kept, ready-to-drive Pagoda with a solid and honest character, this is an example worth a closer look.
