1964 CHEVROLET IMPALA SS 409 SPORT COUPE HARDTOP. This highly documented 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS Sport Coupe is finished in Silver Blue Metallic over a coordinated blue bucket-seat interior. VIN 41447S178226 identifies it as a genuine St. Louis-built V-8 Super Sport hardtop. Early re-paint and retains its original sheet metal, including visible factory drop-offs and pinch welds. Equipment includes a center console with floor shifter, engine-turned aluminum trim, factory tachometer, push-button radio, power steering, SS wheel covers and correct 8.00x14 bias-ply whitewall tires. Power is supplied by Chevrolet’s top-rated dual-quad 409-cu.-in. V-8, producing 425 horsepower through 11.0:1 compression and a high-lift solid-lifter camshaft. The engine pad bears assembly code T1218QB, identifying a 409/425-hp manual-transmission engine, together with derivative number S178226 matching the vehicle VIN. The Carter carburetors retain their foil identification tags, including a 3361S front-carburetor tag marked F3. Power is delivered through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission with correct early components, including a 3851325 main case, 3831707 side cover and 3846429 tailhousing. Odometer presently displays 52,659 miles. Accompanying documentation includes the original owner’s warranty booklet, an ownership chronology and two issues of Impala News featuring the car on their covers in 1981 and 1985. Combining a VIN-matching 409/425-hp engine, original sheet metal, extensive documentation and handsome presentation, this is an exceptional example of Chevrolet’s legendary full-size performance flagship. Condition: Excellent early restored condition. The Silver Blue Metallic repaint remains attractive, showing only minor evidence of age and careful use. Original sheet metal, body lines, chrome, stainless trim and glass present well. The blue bucket-seat interior, dashboard, console and engine-turned trim are clean and well maintained. The engine compartment, trunk and undercarriage are neatly detailed. Minor surface irregularity to lower driver side rear quarter panel suggests older repair beneath the paint. At time of evaluation, Impala starts with ease and the drive is very smooth. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.
