1957 Ford Ranchero "The Trendero" by Dave Puhl and John Malik of Trend

Built by Dave Puhl and John Malik of Trend Automotive of Lyons, Illinois, from 1960 to 1961. Based on a first-year Ranchero; chopped, shaved, and lowered. 1959 Thunderbird front clip, frenched recessed lighting front and rear, upholstered windshield visor, extended bed, and filled-in tailgate. Ford Y-block V-8 engine with Hilborn fuel injection. White vinyl interior with swingout seats, bullet-shaped headrests, “tuck and roll” inserts, in-dash television, and center-console rotary-dial telephone. Best Judged, Best Paint, and 1st place in the Radical Division at the 1963 Spring-O-Rama Rod & Custom Show in Rockford, Illinois. Featured in period on the cover of Car Craft and Car magazines; shown at the 1965 New York World’s Fair. Acquired by The Boeckmann Collection and sympathetically recommissioned in 2011.
