1950-51 Toronto Maple Leafs Championship 14K Gold-Banded Walking Stick

1950-51 Toronto Maple Leafs Championship 14K Gold-Banded Walking Stick

The 1950–1951 Toronto Maple Leafs captured the Stanley Cup in one of the most dramatic Finals in NHL history. Facing the Montreal Canadiens, all five games of the series went into overtime- a unique occurrence still unmatched. Defenseman Bill Barilko scored the Cup-winning goal in Game 5, securing Toronto’s fourth championship in five years. Following this victory, the Toronto Maple Leafs commissioned this Walking Stick to be presented to J.Y. Murdoch, Vice President of the Team. Just as his name is dawned on the Stanley Cup, the walking stick shows the engraved lettering "Presented to J.Y. Murdoch from Maple Leafs Hockey Team World Champions 1950-51".Passing in 1962, Murdoch is cemented in Hockey History as engraved on the Stanley cup in 1949 and 1951. The gold on the band is tested 14K and weighs 53.98g. The gold is also engraved with each player's signature from the Stanley Cup-winning team, including Barilko.
