Dazzling 1936-D Rhode Island Half Dollar 1936-D Rhode Island Tercentenary. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC. Delightful frosty surfaces are dressed in vivid target toning that includes steel-mauve, reddish-orange, powder blue and pinkish-silver colors. An expertly preserved and visually stunning Superb Gem that ranks among the finest known to PCGS and CAC for this Denver Mint commemorative silver issue. Commemorating the 300th anniversary of the founding of Providence, Rhode Island, half dollars of this type were authorized by act of Congress dated May 2, 1935. Designed by Arthur Graham Carey & John Howard Benson, the 1936-D issue has a smaller mintage than the 1936 by about 25%, yet it is just slightly more difficult to come by. Of course at this level of preservation any Rhode Island half is as rare as the proverbial hen's tooth. PCGS Population: 23; 3 finer (MS-68+ finest). CAC Stickered Population: 56; 2. The former total includes coins certified both MS-67 and MS-67+. PCGS# 9364. NGC ID: BYHU. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
