1936 Berlin Olympics - a Japanese Olympic swimming archive - a collection of eighteen autographs and unpublished photographs relating to the Japanese Aquatics Delegation from the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, comprising three small pages of autographs in pencil, with photographs and three Japanese greeting cards The items were gifted directly to an English young lady who traveled on a passenger ship with the Japanese team immediately following the Berlin Games in August 1936. The archive captures the team en route across the Baltic Sea for their post-Olympic tour of Sweden. It features 18 signatures, written in both English and Japanese Kanji, including Noboru Terada (Individual Gold Medalist, 1500m Freestyle) Reizo Koike (Bronze Medalist, 200m Breaststroke) Saburo Ito (5th Place Finalist, 200m Breaststroke) Tomio Koyanagi (Olympic Diving Finalist, Springboard & Platform) Soichiro Honda (Elite Distance Freestyle Swimmer) Yasuo Shimizu (Team Manager/Official) etc
