This 18th-to-19th-century Chinese Famille Rose Bencharong bowl is a magnificent example of export porcelain commissioned from the imperial kilns of Jingdezhen specifically for the Thai royal court and aristocracy. The exterior of the vessel is densely enameled in the traditional Sino-Thai style, showcasing a striking black-enamel ground embellished with alternating, multi-colored cartouches. These dynamic roundels feature seated Thepphanom (Buddhist celestial beings) and half-lion, half-human Norasingha deities, all framed by lai kranok flame scrolls and complex geometric floral bands. In contrast to the rich exterior, the interior is glazed in a smooth, vivid turquoise enamel accented with an elaborate scrolling foliate rim border and a central floral medallion. Resting on a low, unglazed foot rim with an iron-red washed base, this bowl retains its brilliant coloration. Dimensions: 5.75"W x 3.5"H Country of Origin: China Weight: 12 oz Condition Request Condition Report Good. Hairline to rim.
