Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic antique Davenport-style cast iron rim lock dating to the Late Victorian / Early Edwardian period (circa 1880–1900). This premium surface-mounted door lock features a striking dark plum-bronze cast iron casing beautifully contrasted by polished solid brass fittings. It comes complete with its original skeleton key and elegant brass T-bar turn handle. Manufactured by James Morrison Brass Mfg., the lock retains its original brass maker's plaque stamped "J.M." on the front. It features a traditional dual-bolt mechanism consisting of a spring-loaded upper latch operated by the brass T-handle and a heavy-duty lower deadbolt operated smoothly by the original key. Weighing approximately 1.2 kg, this substantial lock exemplifies the robust craftsmanship and engineering of late-19th-century British architectural hardware. An outstanding piece for period restorations, architectural collections or decorative display.
