1857 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. OC-2. Rarity-3. EF-45 (PCGS).

1857 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. OC-2. Rarity-3. EF-45 (PCGS). The 1857 tells a familiar story for a Philadelphia Mint Liberty Seated dollar issue of the 1850 to immediate pre-Civil War era. Struck exclusively for use in the export trade, these issues suffered a grievous rate of attrition through melting once entering Asian markets. Demand for dollars from merchants, brokers and other bullion depositors resulted in a relatively generous mintage of 94,000 pieces for the circulation strike 1857 - a total that has no bearing on the (non)-availability of examples today. This is a deeply toned, generally boldly defined Choice EF survivor that will catch the eye of advanced Liberty Seated dollar enthusiasts. Provenance: From a Collection of American Silver Classics. PCGS# 6945. NGC ID: 24YW. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
