1787 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 3-G, W-6090. Rarity-2. Arrows in Left

1787 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 3-G, W-6090. Rarity-2. Arrows in Left Talon. AU-55 (PCGS). Richly original surfaces are toned in a blend of autumn-orange, chestnut and olive-brown that delivers strong eye appeal. Texture is superior, as well, hard and frosty with faint traces of reflectivity evident in the fields as the surfaces rotate into direct lighting. Close inspection with a loupe is required to discern a few well scattered marks and nicks on both sides, including short scratches in the reverse field areas along the upper right curve of the eagle's right wing and below the junction of its left wing with the shield. In-hand appearance is smooth and choice for the grade, however, and overall detail remains bold to sharp apart from light high point wear in the centers. This is a more available Ryder number in high grades, and this PCGS-certified Choice AU would do nicely in another collection as an example of the 1787 Massachusetts cent, Arrows in Left Talon Guide Book variety. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 302. NGC ID: 2B25. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
