1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 8-O, W-2840. Rarity-3. Mailed Bust Left, Tall Head. EF-40 (PCGS). 151.2 grains. Reverse rotated nearly 90 degrees clockwise from coin alignment. Impression on that side off center to 3 o'clock, border into tops of the letters in ET LIB, bottom of final digit 7 in the date off the flan. Obverse nicely centered, centers on both sides soft, letters C in AUCTORI and ND in INDE a bit faint, although the overall design on both sides is fully appreciable. Nice medium gold brown with highlights of olive and rose engaging the devices, the surfaces are just a tad microgranular with no detracting flan flaws or significant marks. Nicer than the PCGS EF-40 from our March 2026 sale of the Richard August Collection, as well as the 1975 Pine Tree-EAC sale, Taylor, and Ford examples of this Miller number. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier ex Dr. Thomas Hall; Virgil Brand; Brand estate, May 17, 1935; Burdette G. Johnson; Eric P. Newman; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society; Heritage's sale of the Eric P. Newman Collection, Part IV, May 2014, lot 30084, as NGC AU-50 BN. PCGS# 349. NGC ID: 2B2P.
