1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 33.6-KK, W-3425. Rarity-2. Draped Bust Left, Triple Ribbon Ends. VF-35 (PCGS). 138.8 grains. Rather dark charcoal-copper overall, but with isolated high points in lighter chestnut brown to provide some measure of a circulated cameo appearance. Surfaces are microgranular with hard build up within and around many of the design elements. Centering is a bit better on the obverse, reverse aligned to 6 o'clock with the lower border into the bottoms of the date digits. Otherwise boldly defined for the grade, a respectable example of the only Connecticut variety with triple ribbon ends at the back of the effigy's head. Provenance: From the John Bolger Collection. Earlier from McCawley-Grellman's John M. Griffee Sale, October 1995, lot 165. PCGS# 685172. BASE PCGS# 370. NGC ID: 2B2X. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
