1785 Connecticut Copper. Miller 3.4-F.1, W-2340. Rarity-3. Bust Right. VF-35 (PCGS). CAC. 139.4 grains. Quite choice for a 1785 Connecticut copper, this golden-brown specimen is further enhanced by streaks of chestnut copper that are more extensive on the obverse. Well struck, well-centered, evenly worn, and exhibiting only the slightest hint of planchet striations that blend well into the texture of the reverse design motifs and field areas. The date is bold on this common variety, which further enhances the present example's desirability as a suitable filler for a 1785 Bust Right Connecticut in a Guide Book type collection. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier ex Rob Retz, May 1996; Stephen L. Tanenbaum; our sale of Collection SLT, January 2012 Americana sale, lot 7071. PCGS# 316. NGC ID: 2B2A.
