1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny. Nelson-3, Zelinka 7-E, W-13930. Rarity-3.

1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny. Nelson-3, Zelinka 7-E, W-13930. Rarity-3. No P, VOOE POPULI. EF-40 (PCGS). OGH. Smooth medium autumn-orange brown surfaces, full of eye appeal, with pleasing gloss and some light iridescent undertones. Some verdigris is built up in protected areas, light reverse planchet fissures, some central softness is most notable on reverse and is somewhat typical of the variety. No serious marks, very nice for the grade and quite similar to the Zelinka plate coin in terms of overall quality. This popular variety is called the VOOE variety due to the die crack that has entirely closed the letter C in VOCE. This strong EF would make a nice type coin in any early American cabinet. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier from our (American Numismatic Rarities and Stack's) Medio and Da Costa Gomez Collections sale, June 2004, lot 2006. PCGS# 265. NGC ID: 2AUD.
