1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny. Nelson-12, Zelinka 15-N, W-13950. Rarity-3.

1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny. Nelson-12, Zelinka 15-N, W-13950. Rarity-3. P in Front of Face. AU-50 (PCGS). 120.1 grains. A very choice specimen, showing ideal color and struck on a broad planchet. Smooth and glossy light autumn-orange with superb eye appeal, one of the prettiest Voce Populi halfpennies we've seen in recent years. The legends are complete on both sides and the central detail is boldly realized. With none but a few trivial planchet flaws that are out of the way at the peripheries, and very little actual wear, not much can be said for this coin aside from the positive! For those who seek a type coin to represent the P in Front of Face Voce Populi, it would be nearly impossible to do better than this piece. Variety specialists will likely consider this one of the best available from the Nelson-12 dies. A real prize for a connoisseur. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier from our (Stack's) Henry Leon Sale, May 2007, lot 356. PCGS# 271. NGC ID: 2AUE. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
