Enter the world of art, antiques and design!
Recently, the art and antique market has undergone some dramatic changes. Until now, flipping through a catalogue required not only the effort to actually get hold of one, but a need to know industry inside out. The auction houses' and dealers' mainly focused on a small group of sellers and bidders, resembling a clique rather than a market. But this is no longer the case. All over the world more and more people are buying art and antiques, which means that the industry is growing – both in buyers and objects.
We've managed to make all auctions more available by gathering them in one place. By opening up the market, art, design and antiquities are now just a click away and accessible for everyone to enjoy.
The birth of Barnebys
The idea behind Barnebys came when we ourselves realized how difficult it was to navigate around the art world. This was back in 2011, after many hours searching the web, the results were practically fruitless, as there was no where to access all art and antiques in one place.
Our Swedish site was launched in the fall of 2011, and just a couple of months later, the lion's share of the Scandinavian houses we’re affiliated with Barnebys and just a click away. We've come a long way since, and we’re now in the US, UK, France, Spain and Germany.
We're positive that our concept - where the auction house and dealers are at the forefront and maintain their customer relationship - will remain a success.
