Rolex-Hans-Wilsdorf Hans Wilsdorf

The history of the Rolex began in 1905, when Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law Alfred Davis founded the watch brand "Wilsdorf and Davis" which ten years on became what is today known as Rolex. The origins of this name is still unclear, but it is said to derive from either the French phrase for exclusive watchmaking "horlogerie exquise" or the fact that "Rolex" sounds like the sound produced when a wristwatch is pulled up.

Thanks to Rolex, the exclusive watch market has created incredible technologies including the development of the first waterproof watch case and a dial which features a date.

Rolex watches can be divided into two categories, Oyster Perpetual and Oyster Professional. Amongst the most popular models are Submariner, Datejust and Day-Date.
