Jean Elysée Puiforcat was a French silversmith, sculptor and designer, considered one of the most important silversmiths of the Art Deco period. It seems his designs continued to have an influence on art and design in the 20th century as Andy Warhol collected Puiforcat silverware during his visits to Paris in the 1970s. In 1988 the collection was sold at Sotheby's for an incredible $450 000.
