In 2009 Wallpaper* commissioned three one-off editions of B&B's iconic Grand Papilio chair. Giants of design from the realms of fashion and furniture Viktor&Rolf, Elmgreen & Dragset and Baron & Baron created their own off-the-wall versions of the chair. Danish and Norwegian duo Elmgreen & Dragset created a piece twisted with ropes that featured the text: 'Oh Christ, is it a Christo?'

Michael Elmgreen, born 1961 in Copengagen, and Ingar Dragset, born in 1969 in Trondheim, Norway, have been producing art and design together since 1995. One of their most recent and famous installation was Van Gogh's Ear which was erected at New York's Rockefeller Center in 2016. The piece features a 30 foot high empty swimming pool on its side.

Niels Jørgen Haugesen

The famous String chairs, known for their elegant aesthetic, were created when Danish designer Niels Jørgen Haugesen joined forces with Tranekær Furniture. Born in 1936, Haugesen played an important role in mid-century design. In 1966 he was he was employed by Arne Jacobsen in Copenhagen. Just five years later, he set up his own design studio. Haugesen's work can be seen in collections around the world, including at The Danish Museum of Applied Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Tranekær Furniture began producing furniture in 1974 in the estate of Tranekær Castle. The castle dates back to the 13th Century, and was originally built by by King Valdemar 'The Great' (1131-1182.)

Niels Gammelgaard & Lars Mathiesen for Fritz Hansen

Niels Gammelgaard, born 1944 in Copenhagen, played a key role in creating some of IKEA's most iconic designs. After meeting IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad, by 1975 Gammelgaard began creating designs for the furniture giant. His most famous, and not coincidentally award winning, designs include the Ted folding chair (1977) and Moment sofa (1985.) These pieces are amongst IKEAS best-selling pieces.

Danish design house Dan-Form's designs are a cornerstone for modern furniture. The company is known for commissioning Danish designers to use Danish materials. Their design ethos is focused on sustainable, all wood used is from wood from planted forests and packaged in recycled materials, so no matter what the design, buyers can be sure it is always green.
