Francis Bacon (1909-1992)'s Study for Head of Lucian Freud, was rightfully, heavily mediated prior to it's sale at Christie's London in Tuesday July 1, 2014. The oil on canvas that measures 14 x 12 in. is rare and has a very peculiar story.

Prior to Sotheby's sale of Peter Doig's Country-Rock (Wing-Mirror) in June it was discussed whether or not Scottish Doig would break Damien Hirst's record for the most expensive work by a British artist sold at auction - Golden Calf sold for $20 million in 2008 -  it didn't as the work sold for a high yet incomparable $15m. Gasthof, an oil on canvas measuring 108.1 x 78.7 in. sold at Christie's London sale on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, the artis had his auction record broken twice in one week!

Francesco Guardi (1712-1793), the celebrated venetian painter of veduta. Venice, the Bacino di San Marco, with the Piazzetta and the Doge's Palace depicts a magnificent view of the artists home town, an oil on canvas measuring 27.4 x 40.2 in. it is amongst the last painted within the classic Venetian school of painting style. It sold at Christie's London on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

The English painter George Stubbs (1724-1806) is well-known for his vibrant paintings of horses, he even published a book on the subject The Anatomy of the Horse! Now in the collection of The Royal Academy. When the oil on canvas measuring 40x50 in. Tygers At Play sold at Sotheby's London sale on Wednesday July 9th it was not near to breaking the artists record. Price-wise the artist is in league with Rubens, Rembrandt, Pontormo and Turner after the July 2011 sale at Christie's when Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath, with a Trainer, a Stable-Lad, and a Jockey (1765) sold for £22.4m.

The characteristic Jan Brueghel the Elder (1568-1625) oil on copper The Garden of Eden with the fall of man measuring 9.3 x 14.5 in. sold at Sotheby's London on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. The Flemish painter is known for his paradise landscapes in velveteen like colors, nicknamed "Velvet" Brueghel, "Flower" Brueghel, and "Paradise" Brueghel!
