Christie's Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale brought in high prices and set new records for numerous artists. The sale included many rare pieces from prominent artists such as Willem de Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein and  Gerhard Richter. It has also been a particularly wonderful week for Warhol at Christie's, two silkscreen prints portraying their namesake acting in movies that they starred in sold for a combined $150 M. Triple Elvis fetched $81,925,000 and Four Marlons $69,605,000.

Christie's set a total of 11 new artists records, which includes Cy Twombly's tremendous Untitled from his chalkboard series which sold for $69.6 M. It was the first time that this piece was sold at auction, which makes this feat even more extraordinary.

Other record breakers includes one for Cindy Sherman, her 21 piece collection Untitled Film Stills sold for $6.8 M. Yayoi Kusama's White no. 28 set a record with $7,1 M, which was over three times its estimate. Ed Ruscha also set a new record for his work when his painting Smash sold for $30.4 M, Martin Kippenberger's self-portrait Untitled broke his previous record when it sold for $22,565,000.
