Elvis Aaron Presley (1935-1977) was and is the most successful solo artists in the world, having sold more than 1 billion records worldwide, rightly earning him the title of the "King of Rock 'n' Roll."

His career began in the 1950s as one of the first representatives of the Rockabilly, with his gyrating performances and velvety soft voice he became a global star. In the 1960s, he starred and sang in numerous Hollywood movies, and then touring again at the end of the decade.

Following his untimely death at the age of 42, Presley's Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee, has since become a pilgrimage site for his fans.
