The top lot was Henri Martin's La vallée du vert à Labastide-du-Vert, which ened up selling for $485,000.

Heritage Auctions describes Martin as one of the most distinctive second generation French impressionists. This particular piece was executed at the artist's summer home sometime in the 1920's, and depicts the nearby village.

Other notable French painters in the sale include Jean-Pierre Cassigneul, his piece L'Anglaise (1968) sold for $81,250, and Édouard Leon Cortès whose Rue de Lyon, Bastille (1925) sold for $50,000.
