Schmidt left his cell phone on a chair in Art 101 gallery, in Brooklyn, in a piece entitled Schmidt's Unlock and Explore. Members of the public were given access to his entire phone including photos and texts.

"My private life becoming a sort of public theater. At the same time, I experienced what it was like to be without a cell phone, and thus out of contact, for an extended period of time," said Schmidt about his work.
