This will be the first time the mobile has been on the market since it was purchased in 1978 from Paris' Galerie Maeght. Accompanying the lot will be a copy of the original purchase receipt. Calder created this work for the Galerie Maeght show which was held in 1976. The exhibition opened shortly after Calder's death.

In the 20th century, Galerie Maeght famously helped build the careers of such post-war avant garde artists as Marcel Duchamp, Joan Miro and Marc Chagall.

LAMA's Director of Fine Art & Design, Peter Loughry commented: ''The substantial size, the simple construction, the elegant balance and the primary colours - Quatre Blances shows Calder's masterful ability to distill his life's work into a simple gesture.''

Fans of Calder will be able to see his works on display at Pulitzer Art Foundation, in St. Louis, Missouri and at London's Tate Modern.

LAMA's catalogue includes works by Andy Warhol, a 1977 watercolor by Agnes Martin, Picasso ceramics, a Sam Maloof Fiddleback maple rocking chair and a selection of custom George Nakashima furnishings.
