German artist Sven Kroner's rich landscapes are inspired by his childhood spent in the mountains and forests of southern Germany.

His works are inspired by Romantic artists such as Caspar David Friedrich, John Constable and J.M.W. Turner. Contrary to his influences, Kroner features humans in his landscapes, whether physically or implied through depictions as human activity including railway tracks or carvings on trees.

Karel Appel is one the Netherlands most important art exports and is widely considered a pioneer for figurative abstract painting. Influenced by thethe Art Brut movement, Appel's works do not shy away from the use of color, instead he rejects the artistic ideals of post-war mainstream art.

Appel himself was instrumental to two of the great art movements of the 20th century. In 1948, Appel co-founded the CoBrA group with Asger Jorn and Danish, Belgian, and Dutch expressive artists. In 1951, CoBrA disbanded, and Appel became part of Art Informal, alongside abstract artists including Willem de Kooning, and Jackson Pollock.

Vittorio Dassi was a furniture designer working in Milan in the mid-20th century. As well as his own designs, the Dassi workshop worked with Gio Ponti and other well known figures in 20th century furniture.
