The 55 lots had a pre-sale estimate of £60.2-86.1 million ($86.74-$124 million) and realized £69 million ($99.4 million) a figure much lower than last February's record total of £123.5 million ($177.95 million) which was then smashed again in the June contemporary sale which totalled £130.4 million ($187.89 million.)

In last night's sale, four major lots were withdrawn, whilst 78.2% of lots included in the sale sold. Gerhard Richter's Abstraktes Bild (725-4) (1990) which had an estimate of £14-20 million ($20-29 million) was one of the withdrawn lots. Two works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, which had estimates of £6-8 million ($8.65-11.53 million) and £1-1.5 million ($1.44-2.16 million) were also withdrawn.

Tauba Auerbach's work which has an estimate of £1-1.5 million ($1.44-2.16 million) did not sell last night, a surprise for the market as his folded paper works have in the past sold for around £1.45 million ($2 million).

Alberto Burri's Sacco E Rosso, 1959, which has an estimate of £9-12 million ($12.97-17.29 million) set a record as it was sold in the sale room for £9.1 million ($13.11 million.)

Lucian Freud's Pregnant Girl, which had an estimate of £7-10 million, caused much excitement on the phones between Russian and Asian bidders. After a bidding war, the piece sold for £16 million.

In 2008, one of a series of six photographs by Ai Weiwei, sold for £50 000 ($72 000.) Last night, one of the photographs of Weiwei dropping a valuable Han dynasty urn, sold for £1.1 million ($1.58 million.)
