The film Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures is set to air in April 2016, more than 25 years since the photographer died. The documentary times well with the J. Paul Getty Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Mapplethorpe retrospectives that are planned to be opened in March next year.

The film has been made by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato and will show never-before-seen photographs, footage and audio interviews.

Patti Smith, Mary Boone, Fran Lebowitz,  Bob Colacello and Debbie Harry are amongst some of the pop icons to appear in the HBO film.
