1d Hans J. Wegner’s folding chairs in oak, braided seat and back, are not only sauve but practical too. Model no. JH 512, circa 1949 were manufactured by master craftsman Johannes Hansen of Copenhagen. They will be on sale at Phillips Design auction in London April 28, with a low estimate of 11 900 USD

The Swedish auction houses have only just sold Axel Einar Hjorth's furniture and Märta Måås-Fjetterström's carpets for impressibe figures to buyers in Europe and across the pond and it is time now for the post-war design pieces to change hands. There are not many items that are as wanted as Scandinavian design from the 20th century. Designers such as Hans J. Wegner, Finn Juhl, Poul Kjaerholm and Alvar Aalto are some of the world's top designers therefore the demand for their design has never been higher. Amongst the 231 000 lots, which are on Barnebys today, are a variety of noted designer.

2d The tongue-in-cheek Italian designer Piero Fornasetti designed these six plates, "Strumenti Musicali", which are decorated musical instruments in black, white and in color. Low estimate 690 USD.

3d Ib Kofod Larsen’s armchair "Salen" was produced in Jönköping, 1960. With a low estimate of 1 400 USD, it will go under the hammer at Bukowski's Modern auction.

5d Poul Kjaerholm and Ekold Christensen's "Tulipes" "PK-9" chairs were crafted in 1961. With gorgeous leather and patina, the low estimate for the chairs is 74 900 USD, on sale at Tajan.

6d 1960s sideboard "Jan" by Alf Aarseth in rosewood, has an estimate of 1 200 USD, at Blomqvist.

7d Alvar Aalto’s four stackable bowls with green glass, model no. 9769 ABCD were designed in 1939. Low estimate of 10 400 USD at Phillips, London.

8d Hans J. Wegner is the craftsman responsible for this large walnut lounge chair. Low estimate of 1 600 USD at Tajan.

9d Spherical plexiglass light, "VP Globe", by Verner Panton. Low estimate of 1 200 USD at Bukowski's Market.

10d Eight teak and rosewood chairs by the Dane Hans J Wegner. The model is entitled the "shoehorn chair" and was designed around 1952. The low estimate will be 104 000 USD, at London’s Phillips.

11d Design doesn’t have to cost a lot! This pair of brass and glass candlesticks by Gunnar Anderson for Ystad Metall, have a low estimate of 50 USD, at Auktionshuset iSolna.

12d The creator of these two teak sofas , is one of the 1900s greatest designers, Danish native Finn Juhl. The sofas were crafted by France & Son, in 1950 and have a low estimate of 5 000 USD at Wright.
