After running a gallery for 10 years (from 1984-1994), Baer shifted his title to focus on being an art advisor. This was "the natural next step," since the work shared similar principles but his advice became more valuable. Additionally, his publication, The Baer Faxt has been breaking stories since 1995. His past experience has impacted his curatorial choices and his personal taste as well.

A quick chat with Baer reveals his go-to spot in New York is Shelter Island (if you have not already spotted him on a golf course on a Sunday). Looking forward to the New Year, he admits to building a "feminist/woman artist" collection that has caught his attention, but at the moment he will not reveal her name just yet. It becomes readily apparent, early on, that Baer has no intention of slowing down or staying still. What is his dream project? "The next one!"
