The auction will take place on October 25, during what was known as Islamic Art Week, which Christie's have renamed Middle Eastern Art Week. Sotheby's will hold their Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern art auction in the same week.

The decision to move the auction to London was made in order to ''internationalize the market further for Middle Eastern art,'' according to Michael Jeha, Christie's managing director and deputy chairman, Middle East. Jena explained that 30% of buyers at the Dubai auction art international and bid online or via telephone.

Christie's will hold their March sale, to coincide with Art Dubai, which will focus on Modern art, watches and other luxury items. The move to slim down sales, not personnel, reflects Sotheby's and Bonhams operations in the region. Sotheby's currently hold no auction in their Dubai gallery space, holding previews, as do Bonhams, in the Dubai space with the auctions taking placed in London.
