A Patek Philippe Ref. 5016 platinum minute-repeating perpetual calendar Tourbillon wristwatch, made in 2003, sold for $444,500 at an Important Watches Auction held June 7th by Sotheby’s in New York City. Also, a rare and unusual pink gold tonneau form split-seconds chronograph Tourbillon wristwatch slipped onto a new wrist for $396,500; and a Greubel Forsey pink gold double Tourbillon wristwatch with power reserve indication, made circa 2010, went for $200,000. William Glackens painting, $581,000, Swann Auction

An oil on canvas painting by William Glackens, titled The Beach, Isle Adam (1925-26), depicting bathers at a popular locale near Paris, sold for $581,000 at an American Art Auction held June 15th by Swann Auction Galleries in New York City. Also, a watercolor by John Marin, titled Small Point, Maine, from the Bumper (1928), realized $50,000; a watercolor by Milton Avery titled Lakeside Trees (1953) hit $65,000; and an untitled 1917 work by Charles Burchfield reached $30,000. Prices include the buyer’s premium.

A group of eight scrolls by Chinese artist Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) including landscape paintings and ink and color on paper, sold for $2.919 million at an Asian Art & Antiques Auction held June 17-18 by Clars Auction Gallery in Oakland, Calif. Also, a celadon glazed porcelain zhadou bearing the Yongzheng mark finished at $169,400; a Himalayan gilt bronze of Vaisravana  with the base marked with a double Vajra brought $57,475; and a pair of tall huanghuali cabinets rose to $102,850. Prices include the buyer’s premium.

An important Anna Pottery stoneware presentation vase sold for $64,350 at an Americana & Fine Arts Auction held June 16-17 by Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates in Mt. Crawford, Va. Also, a rare Confederate States 1861 $100 Type 3 note (Montgomery, Ala.) gaveled for $24,570; an oil on canvas pastoral landscape painting by Susan Catherine Moore Waters (Am., 1823-1900) fetched $21,060; and a Benjamin Chandlee (Am., 1723-1791) carved cherry tall case clock made $19,890. Prices include the buyer’s premium.

A carved marble head of a Roman nobleman sold for $37,500 at June Jewelry & Remix Auctions held June 9-11 by Rago Arts and Auction Center in Lambertville, N.J. Also, a yellow gold, diamond and ruby frog bracelet by David Webb slipped onto a new wrist for $37,500; a 7.19-carat RBC diamond and platinum engagement ring soared to $87,500; and an untitled mother and child painting by Vu Cao Dam, and James Bohary’s Wired Off Gardner’s Island, each hit $10,625.
