In 2015, Weiwei settled in Berlin when Chinese authorities granted him his passport after having it revoked for four years. Weiwei's work as an artist centers around exile, identity and the movement of people. This summer, Weiwei himself will release a documentary he made during his time with refugees entitled Human Flow

The plight of immigrants in crisis is very close to Weiwei's heart, ''I have been put in the same kind of situation and it’s very possible it can happen to me again. This is the reality,'' explained the artist.

Deutsche Welle's documentary will focus on the artist's process, his teaching at Berlin's University of the Arts as well as delving into his arrest in 2011 which lead to a four year travel ban.
