Although Uppsala Auktionskammare must be yearning for a new Picasso collection to sell, they should be very pleased with this spring’s Important Sale. There are several high-quality items presented within each department. The rarest items at auction in Sweden are still two paintings by one of the giants of the art world, 17th century Flemish master, Jacob Jordaens.

From the collection of Eva Burén comes this unique piece of jewelry by Italian artist Lucio Fontana. It was made in 1966 and purchased directly by the art dealer who represented Fontana in Sweden and was also a personal friend of the artist. It is valued at $45,000 to $69,000. Imagine going to Art Basel with it on your arm - then you will be guaranteed to be in the VIP queue!

An increasing number of auction houses are seeing more and more interest in cars, but few have been privileged enough to have the opportunity to sell a Horch 830 BL Cabriolet 1938. German August Horch is considered one of Europe’s most important pioneers of the automobile industry, and founded what today is Volkswagen-owned Audi. The car belonged to the libertarian Tamm dynasty at the Österbybruks mansion. The estimate is $170,000 to $230,000, but international prices tend to be at least double that, depending on condition, colour and model.

A hidden treasure in the catalogue is this studio of a half length figure by Rembrandt. The prototype of 1635 is signed and dated and available upon request.
