The daughter of two Soho artists, Danes revealed in a statement: ''Growing up in a family where art was a part of everyday life, my parents taught me to question the world around me,” said Ms. Danes in the statement. “Artists today influence how we see the world, how we express ourselves, and how art can transform society.''

Under the direction of new executive director, Tina Kukielski, the format of the show has shifted to focusing on a different city each episode, exploring four artists from that specific city. The fall season will feature  Mexico City, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Chicago.

A stellar line up of directors have been chosen for the fall season including: Peabody Award-winner Stanley Nelson, Emmy Award-winner Pamela Mason Wagner and three-time Academy Award nominee Deborah Dickson.

The first episode, focusing on Chicago, is billed for September 16, and will focus on photographer Barbara Kasten, cartoonist Chris Ware and sculptors Theaster Gates and Nick Cave.

Now that's some high brow PBS and chill!
