We've all heard the tales of Area 51, and now scientists continue the search in the American desert in the latest search for life outside of this world.

It may sound more X-Files than extra-terrestrial, but this is no science fiction. In the documentary film Earthling's Quest - Alien hunters and a message to the stars, the team who brought to the silver screen the Oscar-winning Searching for Sugarcane, follow a group of researchers in the US whose life long mission is to find signs of civilization beyond Earth.

The documentary tells the story behind California's Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) and and Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence (METI) a program which attempts to send messages from Earth and into space.

The film project is a collaboration between directors Per Bifrost and Alexander Rynéus and producer Malla Grapengeisser.
