At Sotheby's from March 8-14, check out the preview for their Modern and contemporary South Asian art sale on March 15. Heading the sale, with an estimate of $2.5 million to $3.5 million, is Vasudeo S. Gaitonde's abstract, which was commissioned for Mumbai's Air India Building. Don't miss one of Asian art's most important female painters Amrita Sher-Gil’s work In The Garden, which has an estimate of  $1.3 million to $3 million.

Christie's preview for the sale will be held from March 11-14, with the sale taking place on 15. The Van der Wee Collection of Himalayan Paintings, is an incredible single-owner sale of 29 works which will be hitting the market the first time.

Select Paintings of Zhu Qizhan on the 20th Anniversary of his Death

At China 2000 Fine Art, one of China's most important painters, Zhu Qizhan will be exhibited. From March 9-26, check out his works, including his 1956 piece Artist in Landscape. Measuring three feet, the work juxtaposes the traditions of Chinese painting style with the artist working en plein air, which was not common for Chinese painters.

Asia 100

For the entirety of the year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is celebrating 100 years of collecting and exhibiting Asian art with a variety of events such as: Masterpieces of Chinese Painting from the Metropolitan Collection, Celebrating the Arts of Japan: The Mary Griggs Burke Collection, Korea: 100 Years of Collecting at the Met. Other exhibits will focus on Indian art, Nepalese art and Islamic arms and armor.
