Vilhelmina Carlson-Bredberg (1857-1943) Sweden

Vilhelmina Carlson-Bredberg was a student of Kerstin Cardon and Amanda Sidwall in Stockholm before moving to Paris to study at the Académie Julian from 1883 to 1890. Carlson-Bredberg took many trips through which she acquired many lasting connections in the British Arts and Crafts movement. Carlson-Bredenberg’s works mainly include portraits, but she also painted interiors, Stockholm scenes and historical subjects.
During the 1890s, her style developed, under the influence of the Impressionists and their realism, toward a brighter and freer expressionistic style, expressed most strongly in everyday portrayals of children.
