Almost 200 years ago, Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther founded his factory in Bavaria, Germany. The porcelain painter set out to manufacture products offering both innovation and quality, leading to him handpicking the best craftsman from all over Europe. The family continued to produce hand-painted and gilded china after Hutschenreuther's death, specializing in dinnerware for fine-dining. A number of famous china patterns were created by the brand during the 20th century, including the striking 'Blue Onion', the minimalistic 'Maria Theresia' and the classic 'Maple Leaf'. Around this time, Hutschenreuther also began to produce figurines, with some of the most popular depicting dancing girls and animals in motion. To mark the authenticity of Hutschenreuther porcelain, the recognizable lion logo was designed and embossed or printed onto the company's products.
