Gertrude Glass Greene was a strong advocate for abstract art and founded, together with her husband Balcomb Greene, American Abstract Artists in 1936. In her career she practiced both sculpturing and painting. She developed her interest for abstract art and her sculpturing skills attending the Leonardo Da Vinci Art School in New York. Glass counts as one of the first artists in the 1930’s to make abstract sculptures. Just like her husband she was greatly influenced by Piet Mondrian.
