Finnish visual artist Fredrik Ahlstedt began his studies in Turku under the tutelage of R. W. Ekman and subsequently continued his studies at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, as well as in Dusseldorf. Ahlstedt is associated with the Önningeby artists’ colony on Åland. He has worked as a teacher and dean at the University of Helsinki and the Finnish Art Society’s Drawing School in Helsinki. He mainly painted lush landscapes with the occasional portrait and maritime motif.
