Carl Frederik Aagaard was born in Denmark, and is best known for his romantic natural landscape paintings. In his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, he focused on decorative painting, at the same time that he studied landscape painting with PC Skivgaard.
Aagaard’s imagery is naturalistic using warm pastel colors. His manner of reproducing the Danish countryside, with its forests, fields and water earned him the reputation of a renowned artist.
His work is represented at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm with the painting “A Spring Landscape” from 1882.
