Aino Aalto (1894-1949) Finland

Aina Aalto (born Marsio) studied architecture at Helsinki University of Technology and started working at Alvar Aalto's architecture office in 1924. The Aaltos had a lifelong collaboration and Aino Aalto designed furniture and furnishings, including for the Savoy restaurant in Helsinki (1937) and Villa Mairea outside of Pori (1938). Together they founded the Artek furniture company, where they designed classic Nordic style furniture and interiors. Aalto is best known for the Bölgeblick glass series (known today as Aino Aalto), which was designed in 1932 for Iittala. Aalto has also designed buildings, pottery, lighting and textiles.
