Garden Furniture

Gardens, both public and private, have been enjoyed by humans for thousands of years, with the earliest surviving examples of garden furniture founded in the Roman city of Pompeii (c.700 BC - AD 79). Unlike indoor furniture, garden furniture is specifically designed to withstand the elements, using more durable and enduring materials like wrought iron and aluminium; however, types of treated wood are also common for garden furniture, such as teak and mahogany. Other materials used include wicker, rattan and - since the 20th century - plastic. Typical types of furniture found in the garden are tables, chairs, parasols, benches, couches, as well as accessories such as birdbaths and planters. These accessories are often crafted from even more weather-resistant materials, like concrete and terracotta.
